Since 2013, FGV Prodata has been positioned as an innovative broadband solution provider that will deliver the broadband solution based on existing access technology – VDSL, ADSL, Microwave, Fiber Optic, and VSAT. FGV Prodata will provides a single platform for broadcast and broadband multimedia services, namely, high speed Internet access, IP telephony, IPTV, Video conferencing, and etc. as per approved license as NSP & NFP.
The technology comprises of the terrestrial wireless Base Station (BS) and the Customer Premise Equipment (CPE), which will include setting-up of box and antenna. The BS has the ability to transmit the data within 30km – 40km depends on the type of technology applied. The speed to transmit data between the BS to CPE is approximately 100Mbps as opposed to VDSL and VSAT where the last mile speed is about 54Mbps and 2Mbps, respectively.
FGV Prodata will provides the broadband solution until last mile which will gives access to e-government, e-commercial, Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Internet, IPTV, Video Conferencing and knowledge and information to underserved commodities, as well as supporting home growth research and development. This initiative will cater the broadband services to 317 FELDA schemes, which is equivalent to 112,710 settlers/household nationwide and will be deployed in phases.
In 2014, FGV Prodata has embarked in Telecommunication project under Universal Service Provision project sponsored by Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The project involved installation and commissioning of Telecommunication infrastructure and electronic equipment valued RM37 mil. This project will bring value proposition to Felda Broadband initiative which already started in year 2013.
